Skoda Skoda Skoda

I had the grand-dad of that, the “Rabbit” pickup in diesel. Looking back, I actually blame it quite a lot for me getting the Ranchero. Smallish chuckable utes are where it is, mate, even if criminally underpowered.

I know where’s there’s a Rabbit pickup still on its factory tires. Stored in an aircraft hanger since new. Couldn’t see the speedo to say him much is on it, but the door sticker is still on the drivers seat.

Criminally is right. There’s a 50/50 chance that this thing has 54hp(!) Won’t know until I check the engine code, of course, but the anticipation is half of the fun. I might get lucky and have the 68hp version, so FWD burnouts may become plausable, if not actual fact.

Fingers crossed it’s all that you want.

My diesel was purportedly 52hp, but by the time I had it, it had run 230,000+ miles. Also had only a four-speed, though of course it was also a bit lighter.

I’m sorry but I don’t follow

Minimal rust, that’s all I care for. The rest is fixable with no long term worries.

There’s a possibilty that I will own a second Skoda by 10:30AM tomorrow. Granted, this wasn’t as succinct as some of your Celica posts, but I thought the general message came across.

Bro, I’ve got +2hp MINIMUM on your Rabbit, with 5 on the floor and 140k less miles. Consider yourself CHOPPED.

It could be worse — you could have two toyota products on the street, another in the driveway, and one more in the garage.

I dunno, does two Land Rovers under constant maintenance in a barn count? I was always told that ‘Life’s too short to own a Toyota’, but that only makes me want one more. Especially the older ones, you know I love your Hilux. If the right Land Cruiser or Hilux came along, I’d buy it.

Considered. I’m entirely positive you’ll be able to beat my record of “83mph, going downhill”. Which, now that I think about it, I drove it with sub-par horsepower for quite a while. Got a fresh injection pump and corrected the injection timing at one point, and the change was almost magical.

Also one of these:
In a heartbeat

A Toyota would basically help keep all your LRs running with the amount of money you’ll save though!

Pumpe duse, or earlier? I’m not actually sure how old the MK1 Rabbit is.

That’s what my pre-dieselgate Skoda TDI does though :)

Simple Bosch mechanical injection.

Oh single point mechanical injection. There’s also a possibilty that the Skoda 1.3 has the same Bosch system. Either that or a Siemens multi-point, although I doubt the difference is even marginal.

I’m cheering for you in the downhill faceoff. I think the improved aero and extra gear will really make a difference.

I didn’t even mean PD, rather VE. My Octavia is on the brain, ya see. Can't wait to fix that bloody thing.

..and soon you’ll have two things with the Skoda badge. Does that make you a
Czechist
?
